High Accuracy GPS Applications
Construction, surveying, research, and other field work often need GPS precision to 1 meter or less, requiring the use of specialized hardware and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology.
Pendragon Forms now provides the ability to directly pull high precision GPS directly into forms via button press or script, including UTM, altitude, and precision variables.
Using the Forms interface designer, organizations can rapidly create GPS mobile solutions and sync the data to a centralized source. Mobile device users can collect data offline after downloading forms to their devices.
On your Android device, tap on the Settings icon. Under Permissions, switch Location to ON. Then tap on the word Location to view details. On the Location screen, tap Mode and select GPS Only as the mode. This verifies that your Android device will obtain GPS coordinates from the Trimble PG200 GNSS receiver.
Download the Trimble GNSS Status app on your Android device.
Open the GNSS Status app. You will be prompted to allow mock locations. Tap "Yes" and you will be redirected to Developer Options.
Turn develoloper options on by toggling to "On" in the top right. Then scroll down and toggle "Allow mock locations" to the active state. Then tap back to return to the GNSS Status app.
In the GNSS app, tap the menu and select Real-time Config. Tap on the Primary Source Type and change the setting to SBAS. Tap the Save button.
Turn on your Trimble PG200. Go into the GNSS Status app on your Android device and pair the Android device with the GNSS: 54020 Bluetooth Receiver. (See hardware manual for further instructions). Once you verify that you have GPS results appearing in the GNSS Status app, return to the Pendragon Forms app.
Download the sample Trimble_PG200_Example.pff form at the bottom of this page. Import the form into the Forms List in Pendragon Forms and then freeze and publish the form. Sync Pendragon Forms on your Android device to load the form.
The script to capture data from your PG200 device is below.
Open the Trimble PG200 Example form and add a record. Click the "Get GPS". The data should be captured and written to the respective fields. The "mock" value allows you to determine of the GPS data came from your PG200 or from the built in GPS. You can use this indicator to verify that you are getting only the most accurate source.
